1.What age can my child start music, art, dance or musical theatre classes atFSMPA in Frisco, TX?
We offer music, art, dance, and musical theatre classes in Frisco, TX forstudents as young as age 4 (age 3 for Fairytale Princess Ballet), withage-appropriate beginner programs designed to build confidence, coordination,and creativity. Students can continue progressing through the teen years, andwe also offer music lessons for adults in the Frisco, McKinney, Plano,Carrollton, Little Elm, Prosper and Celina areas.

2.Do beginners need any prior experience to start music, art, ballet or musicaltheatre classes?
Not at all! Most of our students start as complete beginners. Our instructorsspecialize in working with first-time students through advanced and makelearning fun, engaging, and easy to follow from the very first lesson.

3.What types of classes do you offer for kids and teens?
We offer a wide variety of classes in Frisco, TX including private musiclessons (piano, classes. Families love having multiple activities in oneconvenient North Texas location.

7.Do you offer flexible scheduling for busy families?
Yes! We offer flexible scheduling with after-school, evening, and Saturdaymusic and art classes in Frisco, making it easy for busy families to find atime that works. Many families choose lesson times for each child that areclose in timing on one day a week for easy scheduling and convenience.

8.What if my child tries a class and it’s not the right fit?
That’s completely okay. We want every student to love their experience. Ifneeded, we can adjust the class, teacher, or even switch to a different programsuch as art, dance, or another instrument. Very easy.

9.Are there performance opportunities for students?
Yes! We offer performances at each level of study! Right here on our campus atour very own Frisco Performing Arts Center. Full stage, lighting and sound.Performances are optional; recitals, showcases, judged art gallery shows andmusical theatre performances in the Frisco area throughout the year. Theseevents help students build confidence and celebrate their progress in a fun,supportive environment. We also have judged events for yearly progression withmedals, certificates, trophies and more.

10.Do you offer music lessons for adults in Frisco/Prosper?
Absolutely. We offer private music lessons for adults. Whether you’re acomplete beginner or returning to music after years away, our instructors willmeet you at your level.

11.Can siblings take lessons at the same time?
In many cases, yes. We do our best to schedule siblings at the same time orback-to-back, which is especially convenient for families in Frisco, McKinney,and Prosper looking to minimize multiple trips.

12.What makes your school different from other music schools in Frisco, TX?

13.Do you offer preschool dance classes for ages 3–6 in Frisco, TX?
Yes! We offer preschool ballet classes in Frisco, TX through our FairytalePrincess Ballet program, designed especially for children ages 3–6. Thisprogram combines dance, music, and imaginative storytelling to create a magicalfirst-class experience while building coordination, confidence, and creativity.

Aftercompleting the program, students can continue their dance journey at localdance studios in the Frisco and Prosper area, or explore other interests bytransitioning into music lessons, art classes, or musical theatre at ourschool.

14.What about summer lessons?
We have many options for the summer so that students can keep learning andavoid summer learning loss, while being flexible with their summer plans. Also,check out our amazing SUMMER CAMPS for all ages. Many students add camps andother lessons for summer to keep the fun rolling. If your travels are such thatyou will miss summer lessons just contact our friendly customer service team tohear your options.

15. Is this a contract, and what isthe commitment?
Most students join us for our Yearly Discount Plan of lessons through July andstay for several years. We are open year-round. If you cannot continue, all we ask is a 30-day notice from the first ofthe month to stop lessons. This gives the student and teacher time to finishout lessons in a positive way.

16. What about home music practice?Is there homework in art, dance and musical theatre?
MUSIC – A home instrument is required for lessons (including properly sizedguitar). Young children should have a “fun music time” at home several timeseach week with a parent, sharing what was covered at the lessons anddiscovering together the fun activities page by page. Do not stress with this –over time a routine will become part of your week. Regular music practice is animportant part of making steady progress for 1st graders and up. Helpstudents set a time for 15-25 minutes of making music and playing through thelesson assignment (play each piece 5 times through etc.).

ART, DANCE, MUSICAL THEATRE: Most art projects are completed inclass, with additional technique practice sheets and a student spiral ofexamples that students can complete at home (ask the teacher). Dancers have aweekly go-home coloring sheet that coordinates with the monthly folktale storyin our Fairytale Princess Ballet Classes. Musical Theatre students practicetheir stage lines and dances at home, along with singing through the musicalselections for the upcoming shows.

17. When can I start? What if I am atrue beginner? I don’t know how to read music!

Start lessons anytime – we have open enrollment. Most of ourstudents have never had lessons before so our teachers help studentsstep-by-step or pick up right where you are. Learning to read music is includedin each lesson.

18.How will the teacher know what I want to learn?

Please share your goals with the teacher at your first lesson,and the teacher will personalize the lessons. In music, learn any style youwish – just share that info with your teacher. Most students want to learnabout the printed language of music for their instrument along with playingfamiliar songs. Pop, rock, contemporary, gaming music, jazz, country, blues andclassical.

19. What are the costs?

Your cost is just for tuition and for a yearly school membership(covers all supplies, books, awards, shows, costume rental for musical theatreand dance) and more. Just ask our friendly customer service team for moreinformation that applies to your school series.

20. Is there a trial lesson so we cansee if this is for us?

Yes. We offer a one-time CONSULTATION LESSON for the price ofjust one lesson. Please check with our friendly customer service team foravailability.

21. Do you have lessons for adults?

Yes. We offer adult private music lessons for piano, guitar,bass, voice, violin and drums. We have convenient scheduling for lunchtimelessons and early afternoon, plus later evenings and Saturdays too.

22. What should I bring to my firstlesson?

For music, the school provides instruments at lessons for pianoand drums (bring your guitar, violin and of course your voice to thoselessons). For guitar and violin, we have sample school instruments of varyingsizes to use at a first lesson before purchasing or renting a home instrumentof an appropriate student size. For art and musical theatre, the teacher willhave class supplies for new students. Dance students wear appropriate attire(see dress code for leotard/tights/ballet shoes etc.).

23. Is a keyboard OK for home practice?

Yes of course – to start with. If you already have one, thengreat! If you are shopping, get a keyboard or digital piano that fits yourbudget. Standard pianos have 88 keys, so the more keys the better! Some modelsare touch-sensitive and have pedals – again, that would be the best if it fitsthe budget. Just ask our friendly customer service team for a resource sheetwhen you are on campus.

24. Where do you hold recitals and shows?

At our very own Frisco Performing Arts Center here on ourcampus. Very friendly performance hall with stage, lighting, and audio. Showsare broadcast live on the internet, including our music shows, judged events,art gallery shows, dance recitals and the musical theatre variety shows.

25. What is your Medal Series?

The FSMPA Medal Series includes yearly student awards and medalsfor our private music students (Yearly Judged Music Performance), Art GalleryShows (three yearly themed judged shows), and the Music Theory Test Medals (forscores of 90 and above). For music, these medals are progressive each year upthrough levels 10 and 12.
